Today's invention is aimed at saving the lives of occupants of a light
aircraft which is about to crash.
The crew compartment consists of a vertical-axis cylindrical canister
attached to a high wing. Each semicircular edge of the cylinder's upper
face is attached to the wing by a separate set of explosive bolts.

Wow, I think the rotation momentum would kill the crew before the compartment would reach the ground. But even if the crew made it I still believe the compartment would be falling way too fast for anyone to survive the impact. I do like where your going with this bc I'm afraid of flying (and I do it weekly). Thanks, Patrick!
